The Wheat March is the name given to the three month campaign against a massive horde of goblinoids in the south of the Yeomanry League. The name comes from the fact that most of the fighting took place on old farmlands. The horde attacked without warning, covering the whole south of the Yeomanry. Local militias were overrun, and every farming village was burned to the ground and looted. The loss of life was massive, and conservative estimates put the number of those who died at 20,000.
In the early part of the campaign, the village of Sheafdale was used as a rallying cry. Sheafdale was the only village where a sizable number of villagers escaped, thanks to a group of adventurers and Ser Deverus the Lion. The survivors of Sheafdale had a feast held in their honor at the Freeholder's mansion, and they were all given houses and employed by the Freeholder. The adventurers were said to have immediately went south to join the campaign.
Swift action from the Freeholder Marius Lindon saw the entirety of the Yeomanry's army march south. Everyone in the north watched the mountains in terror, hoping that the giants wouldn't take this time to attack when they were undefended. Luckily, that never came to pass. For three months, the forces of the Yeomanry, along with volunteer militia thirty for revenge, swept through the southern farmlands. They killed thousands of goblinoids and suffered heavy losses, but they finally pushed them back to the Tors Mountains. Once in their mountain warcamp, the goblinoids were sieged and eventually destroyed entirely.
There were several impacts of the Wheat March. Firstly, a massive famine gripped the Yeomanry, forcing them to import food from several other nations, even Keoland, who they were on shaky relations with to begin. Secondly, new forts were built along the southern perimeter to keep the goblinoids in check. Regular excursions are taken into the Tors to clear out any new goblin dens.
